How does it work?
Skoog is designed to get you ‘hands-on’ with musical sounds. It’s like a games controller for making music – it’s a squashy foam cube that acts as a wireless (Bluetooth® SMART) controller for the App running on your iPad*.
Musicplay
Jam with your favourite tracks instantly! The Skoog App integrates with your iTunes media library or music streaming service and automatically tunes your Skoog so you can play along with the music you love. This is musicplay – just choose a song and get playing. Creative and fun, with Skoog you play to learn: that’s what musicplay is all about.

Skoog and GarageBand on iPad let students compose and perform their own music without the need for keyboard, guitar or other traditional instrumental skills. They can poke, squeeze and press Skoog and it provides physical stimulation and acoustic feedback that plays instruments on iPad. The automatic key-detection in the Skoog app also lets anyone “jam” along with favourite songs in their iTunes media library using the instrument sounds in GarageBand and other MIDI apps.
Skoog is lightweight and portable, making it easy to set up and use. It connects to your iPad via Bluetooth LE or to your Mac or Win PC via USB and comes with its own free app (available from the App Store). Or you can use it as a controller for other MIDI-compatible music apps.
Inclusive
Skoog is an instrument that is truly inclusive. For many people with disabilities one of the greatest barriers to making music is the dexterity required to play a more traditional musical instrument. Skoog removes that barrier.
Enabling
As well as being physically accessible, Skoog’s simple design combined with the software features enables those with learning difficulties to make and play music with peers without the need to learn traditional music theory. The ability to create and control musical sounds is also beneficial for a range of therapies and multi-sensory learning.
