Family Tree Maker 2024

Description

FTM 2024 for Mac and Windows.

For 35 years Family Tree Maker has been the world's favorite genealogy software making iteasier than ever to discover your family story, preserve your legacy and share your unique heritage. If you're new to family history, you'll appreciate how this in tuitive program lets you easily grow your family tree with simple navigation, tree-building tools, and integrated Web searching. If you're already an expert, you can dive into the more advanced features, options for managing data, and a wide variety of charts and reports. The end result is a family history that you and your family will treasure for years to come!

What's New in FTM 2024? Plenty!

FTM 2024 is a major new Family Tree Maker edition that takes this grand old brand to places its creators could only have dreamed of when it was first published back in 1989. Where your tree can be instantly fact-checked by a relative half way around the world on their smartphone or tablet. Where you can turn back time to erase mistakes you made even five thousand changes ago. Where the interface grows in just the right places to go easy on your eyes. Where you can arrange for your tree to be passed on to a successor of your choice along with your Family Tree Maker license to ensure your legacy lives on. All this and more in the exciting new world of Family Tree Maker.

Turn Back Time® 5000

Being able to fix a mistake that was made up to 1000 changes ago was just the ticket if you discovered you lopped off Uncle Harry's branch of the family — weeks ago. Introduced in FTM 2019, having Turn Back Time
meant you could roll back changes with a single click to just before that catastrophe. Because every change is recorded in the Turn Back Time change log. Even the details of changes for complex operations like merging and syncing with Ancestry. So we asked users what more could we possibly do to improve on THAT? Easy, you told us. Give us more saved change log steps. And so we have. Five times as many. Meet Turn Back Time 5000.

Connect Workspace

Making it super easy to connect with your relatives is an idea so big that it gets its own workspace. The new Connect workspace makes it a snap to share your family tree with your relatives — and enlist their help in fact-checking it. They start by viewing your tree on the free FTM Connect mobile app for Apple and Android devices (see below). If they find something to share with you they simply add a Relative Hint™ sticky note to the tree. Then, through the magic of TreeVault®, their sticky note icons instantly show up on your FTM tree and in the Index, right next to Ancestry and FamilySearch hints. And, as your network of helpful relatives grows, the Connect workspace automatically keeps track of their progress. Time to get connected.

FTM Connect 2.0

A greatly expanded FTM Connect app is what makes getting connected with your relatives possible. First off, there's Guest Access. Enabled by TreeVault, Guest Access is what allows you to send invitations to relatives you'd like to view your tree on their phone or tablet. And when they do, they'll find even more information from your FTM tree in this version, including Relationships, Person and Research Notes, and Web Links. And for some fun, there's direct access from the app to our Family Tree Maker collection of famous trees — from Alexander Hamilton to Luke Skywalker, and Walt Disney to Game of Thrones. Enjoy!

Easy on the Eyes™

One of the most frequent requests we get is "Can't you do something for my poor tired eyes?" Well, now we have. Easy on the Eyes does just one thing. It enlarges areas of the People workspace while you are working in them and then puts them back to normal size. So go ahead — you can stop squinting now. See how Easy on the Eyes works by watching a video of the feature in action.

New Photo Darkroom® Tools

In FTM 2017 we introduced a set of repair tools for damaged photos, especially those that faded over time to be almost blank. And we named them collectively Photo Darkroom. Now in FTM 2024, we've greatly expanded the tools you'll have on hand to rescue old family photos. They include cropping and a range of new repair tools that will help you remove dust and scratches. And, as with the first set of Photo Darkroom tools, the original photograph is always saved unchanged.

Coming Soon! AlbumWALK®

AlbumWALK has been called a "game-changer" for capturing memories in photos. Built around our very first technology patent, it's a free mobile app for iOS and Android devices that allows anyone to record memories and embed them in a photo using our tap-talk SoundSpot™ technology to create interactive talking photos. Just tap a face on a photo and talk about that person. Tap the next and talk and so on. And when you're finished, AlbumWALK creates a mini-documentary with professionally scored background music that can be played back in the media center of FTM 2024. To move album files to your tree, AlbumWALK relies on TreeVault, which on the way to your media collection, also puts an up-to-the-minute backup of all your AlbumWALK photos and albums in the TreeVault cloud. Once in Family Tree Maker, the talking picture files can be viewed in a built-in AlbumWALK player.

Family Tree Maker TOP FEATURES

Rich Color Coding

One of the most frequent requests
from genealogists using color coding, was for "rich" color coding — not just coding the home person's ancestors but each ancestor's descendants as well. With FTM 2024, rich color coding is just one click away.

TreeVault® Cloud Services

With TreeVault, Family Tree Maker is no longer an isolated desktop application, but rather the hub of a growing ecosystem of mobile apps and cloud services. View changes in your FTM tree in real time on your smartphone or tablet. Know what the weather was like the day your grandfather was born. Sleep better knowing that an up-to-the-minute copy of your tree is securely tucked away in the cloud, and that someday it will be passed on to the next generation for you. There is a subscription fee.

Sync With an Online Ancestry Tree for FREE

FTM 2017, FTM 2019, and now FTM 2024 are the only Family Tree Maker editions whose trees can sync with an Ancestry online tree so that they stay matched. The online tree can then be shared with others who you can allow to view, leave comments, or edit. And even better, you can now sync your Ancestry tree to both your laptop and your desktop at the same time. So when you get back from a trip with your laptop, you'll be just one sync away from the happiest (and easiest) family history homecoming you've ever had.

Billions of FREE Records From FamilySearch

Start by downloading an entire branch from a FamilySearch tree directly into Family Tree Maker. But even more exciting, you can now get users' hints linked to more than SIX BILLION online FamilySearch historical records. It's a great source of records for Family Tree Maker users — for FREE.

Hints Made Easy to See

Once found only on tree views, those little green Ancestry leaves and FamilySearch hints now appear in the people index too. No more scrolling through branches to find all the latest hints. And you can check for hints for a particular family name in the Index or in a saved list.

Charts, Reports, and Books

View and share your discoveries with a variety of colorful family tree charts, such as pedigree, descendant, bowtie and fan charts, and create reports that provide a snapshot of your family tree and help you plan what to research next. More options and views let you display an individual's ancestors, spouses, and children together. Also, the Index of Individuals Report has been expanded with options for anniversary, birthday, contact lists, and more.

Share your discoveries with friends and family.

One Window, All Your Trees

Get the tree you're looking for quickly with this new window into your tree files. Search a family name and find all related trees wherever they are — on Ancestry, on your hard drive, or up in the cloud. See if your Family Tree Maker tree has a linked Ancestry tree, and under what name. No linked Ancestry tree? Click Download to get all synched up
